Math is hard

A man went to cash in his clunker,
An '83 Chevrolet junker.
"$4,500?!" he hollered.
"It's worth $100 dollars!"
Could government be any more drunker?

My initial thoughts on Cash for Clunkers has changed 180 degrees and I think its a ridiculous waste of money now. I've heard of car dealerships scamming the government out of huge money and the cars replacing the clunkers sometimes get as little as 2 mpg better than the crap wagons they replaced.

The money should be spent on public transportation systems to encourage people to get out of their cars altogether.

Well, then, Erik, there ARE some things we agree on. Except for the emphasis on public transportation. Rochester, Minn., isn't exactly what you'd call a community ready for light rail, and it already has a decent busing system. However, I don't use the bus, because busing sucks once you've experienced the freedom your own car offers.
