It's a tragedy, it is. It's a sadder blogosphere today.
May the good ol' Mine rest in peace.
Posted by: mixup at March 5, 2007 07:05 PMI feel a little like I did when Plain Layne went down in flames, only I'd been reading Joshua longer. (Unless I find out now that the reason that he's upset that his mom found out is because he's really a 12 year old that has been on his mom's computer while she's at work, and she didn't know he knew things like "jesus shit the fuckin bed" etc. Then I'm gonna be upset that there's a 12 year old out there that can whip me with half his brain tied behind his back.)
Posted by: Donna at March 5, 2007 08:42 PMYeah, if only I'd had Odin's readership before I went offline. Alas, Strip Mining will be little more than a data point in some report referenced in a minor footnote in the history of the blogosphere.
Posted by: Joshua at March 6, 2007 12:02 AMStill Joshua, don't be a stranger K?
And yours was one of the first blogs I read, because I was looking up strip mining, like 4 years ago, and I'd been reading ever since, and then half the other blogs I read I got from your site.
Those that can't write, read.

I've been reading this blog and Joshua's for years now (ever since I discovered what a blog was) and this is my first time commenting anywhere. I've learned a lot from you Joshua and I will miss your history, economics, and sociology musings, as well as your creating writing.
I hope I find your new blog sometime in the future.
Posted by: Frank at March 6, 2007 07:58 AMI liked Joshua's writing because the guy has integrity. He's an outstanding writer, and I liked his stuff (even when we butted heads)
Shame, really, but we write blogs for ourselves more than for others, right? When it's time to stop it's time to stop. He had a post just recently about making commitments and how he goes all or nothing. This pretty much proves that point.
I hope to see you again, Joshua (virtually speaking).
Peace.
