It was an accidental beating, followed by an accidental strangulation.
UPDATE: The more I follow this, the more I think this guy is an attention whore who probably didn't actually do the crime. I shall await the DNA judgement on this one.

Any of the details, such as how he got in, how he knew the family and the girl have been met with silence. As far as I can tell, his only admission is being there when she died, which sounds like a dodge to me.
This sounds oddly enough like the scene in Seven where Spacey turns himself in. I'm not saying that Kaar is going to FedEx somebody's head, but…
The only thing that is certain at this point is that this dude is sicko.
