Joorie Dooty

My jury duty started today. And I got selected as a juror on my very first try! Beginner's luck! Court starts tomorrow, so blogging will be light, by which I mean nonexistent.

Oh, and jury selection is BOOOOOOOORRRRRRRINNNGGGGGG.

I had the most fun on jury duty, the jury I was on was like a group of stand up comedians, we could have taken it on the road. The bailiff had to come and tell us to quiet down several times because we were laughing too loudly and they could hear us in the courtroom from the jury deliberation room. They kept sending us out so that the lawyers could argue different points, be ready for that, we hardly got out chairs warm when they'd send us out again. Anyway, we had a blast, and were wishing we'd had like the OJ trial or something, we wanted to be sequestered and put up at the hotel with food and drinks at the hotel bar. (Ok, I'm sure they wouldn't have paid for that, but damn, these were people I would've partied with.)
After the trial, the judge came and talked to us, and the d.a., and they laughed at us for being so rowdy and goofy. I told them hey, I tried to keep them in line, but couldn't, sorry, (I was foreman, woman, person, whatever), but it was pretty fun, and we had a good time. Plus, you know, free parking, lol! I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Generally, Donna, the members of the jury I sat on were all good people, but we didn't develop the kind of joking relationship you did. It was kind of a "nice to meet you, let's get this over with" kind of thing.

That really sucks dude, but for me, any day not at work is a good day, lol, and apparently there are alot of people that feel that way.
Oh, and we had this one preschool teacher that had us all cutting up crayons and cutting out hand prints so that her kids could make handprint turkeys for thanksgiving, so we had arts and crafts too, it was just goofy all the way around.
And the guy that we convicted? Didn't learn a damn thing, I was at work the other day, and watched him pick up a crack whore that works near me, and that's why he was arrested in the first place, possession with intent. He was paying for services with crack. (Or as it is known where I work, crack for crack).
