I had a post up that featured pictures of the supposed car involved in the shooting of the Italian journalist. The validity of those pictures is now under speculation, so I deleted the post until further notice.
Posted by Ryan at March 7, 2005 01:06 PMEh. She's full of shit.
It's possible that a soldier fired a riffle or a pistol at them from the top turret of a tank, but if she'd taken a hit from a .50 her whole arm would be gone. There's no such thing as a flesh wound from a bullet that weighs 42 grams traveling at 800 mps. Also, those tank-mounted .50's go ten rounds a second, and each of those bullets can pound clean through an aluminum engine block so this business of the agent throwing himself on top of her to save her life would have been absolutely pointless.
Nevermind the fact that her story keeps changing.
Checkpoint guards in Iraq shoot unarmed people all the time; even the guards themselves admit that. And let's be real: if USGOV wanted her dead, she'd be fuck'n dead.
Her efforts to turn a standard issue US Army clusterfuck into a dark conspiracy only serve to discredit her political position.
I'd like to see pictures of the car, all the same. That would probably clear some of this up.
I had the same thoughts about the .50 calibre mounts that are standard on most tanks; they would have ripped through the car and not stopped until they reached somewhere near Turkey. She's tellin' fibs, she is.
