Hi, it's me, Pat Proft, president of the United States and inventor of the stocking cap. I wish you all the best as owner of the Vikings. You'll enjoy living in Minnesota. You'll never want to leave. I know I missed it so much when I was pope.
Congratulations! By the way, I invented the word "congratulations." You can use it any time you want.
Pat Proft, Wayzata.

He was notorious for coming up with all sorts of wacky and obviously fake stories about himself - for example, that he went on dates with popular teenage actresses, had a seat on the NY stock exchange and the Motion Picutre academy, invented the term "cool beans", etc. The Star Tribune letter seems to be written as a joke impersonation by someone who knows Proft personally. Of course, the letter wouldn't make sense to anyone outside Proft's circle of acquaintances, but I imagine the people inside that circle are having a few chuckles right now. Except for Proft himself, that is.

The letter parodies the fact that Fowler faked or exaggerated parts of his resume. (If you haven't been following the news, Fowler claimed that he played in the NFL, earned a Business Administration degree, and participated in the Little League World Series, when he really did none of these things.)
Um, can I also give a "what the hell?" on this comment thread??
